Simple File Tools provides free browser-based utilities for working with documents and text. This policy explains what happens with your information when you use the site and the tools on it.
Information we collect
You can use the tools on this site without creating an account. Pages may collect basic technical information, such as browser and device details, network information, and usage information, through the hosting platform and analytics service used to operate this website. That information may be used to keep the site available, secure, and functioning.
Accounts and sign-in
An account is optional and is only needed for features that require one, such as the planned API. If you create an account, we store the information needed to run it:
- your email address;
- a unique account identifier and the date the account was created;
- your password, stored only as a salted cryptographic hash - we never store or can read your actual password; and
- basic account status information, such as whether your email address has been confirmed.
If you sign in with Google instead of a password, Google shares your email address and basic profile information (such as your name and profile picture) with us, and we store the account identifier Google provides. We do not receive your Google password. You can review or revoke that access in your Google account settings.
Authentication is handled by Supabase, a third-party authentication provider, which processes your email address and sign-in data on our behalf for FileToolz and its services. To keep you signed in, the site stores a session token in your browser's local storage. Signing out removes it.
FileToolz services
FileToolz runs several sites and services, including simple tools, APIs, MCP servers, and other services. Different services may be offered on different domains under the FileToolz name, and each service may have its own features, terms, and data practices. Information you provide to one service is handled under this policy, except where a service describes a different practice for itself.
Some services may collect or process information you provide in order to offer that service, such as files, text, or other inputs you submit. Where a service processes files or text on your device, it does so through your browser or application and is not intentionally storing those files on our server. Where a service sends information to a server or API, it will describe what it sends and why.

How the tools and services handle your files and other inputs
The tools on this site run in your browser whenever possible. In those cases, your files and text are processed on your device and are not uploaded to our server. Some tools read or convert the file you select and produce a result for you to download, but they do not intentionally store those files on our server.
Because the tools and services rely on your browser or application, the exact results can vary by browser, file type, file complexity, and runtime. Results are provided for general convenience and may not be perfect for every file, format, or use case.
Some FileToolz services are hosted on different domains or delivered through APIs and MCP servers. If you use those services, the information you provide may be sent to the service you are using. Each service will describe, where practical, what it does with your inputs and whether anything is stored or processed server-side.
